I'm not up to speed with this Saturday's extravaganza. Can anyone fill me in: good songs, bad songs etc. I heard James Fox on Terry Wogan this morning singing live with his guitar - it sounded pretty good! Is it going to be held in the UK next year?

John, I love to watch it if I can. It's not about the songs, it's about the politics. Don't think we will get too many votes this year, even if our song was sung by the Rolling Stones. Crista

Cathy at the Top of the Hill Report 14 May 2004 09:40

Hi everybody! The semi-final was on BBC3 the other night as there are so many entrants, they had to knock some countries out, so it was a phone vote. As usual it was a mixed (!!) bag, - must confess I do enjoy it anyway - you'd be surprised how many do & how many people have Eurovision 'parties' - been talking to a guy in the office who's going to one... It was a telephone vote and for my sins I voted for Ukraine, the Catherine-Zeta-Jones Xena Warrior Princess extravaganza..! Watch out for her.! There's a greek Ricky Martin type too. p.s. Valley; hope you have'nt forgotten my horoscope. Am looking forward to it.! Have a good weekend everybody, Cathy ~~~

I too am one of those sad people who enjoy watching but it is a bit of fun. It's the ones who take it so seriously who are really sad. I don't thnk much to our entry. A bit bland and like others have mentioned we don't stand a chance because of all the political voting. Also Europe is getting so big there will sonn have to be more than one programme to decide who goes in and who doesn't? Jane

Every year I say I'm not watching that again because of all the political voting. But each year I give it another go in the hope it gets better!

Brian

Brian Report 14 May 2004 14:47

Let's hope we get at least twice as many votes as last year. Brian

I watch it for fun too. It's really good if you put subltitles on the TV and try and sing along. A large amount of alcohol helps too!

Yes Elaine, I too like Terry Wogan's comments. Denmark voting for Sweden, and Sweden voting for Denmark. Yes, that's exactly how it goes. Political, yes of course it is.

Good luck to James Fox. At least he can sing, unlike last years disaster! Will be glued as usual, and looking forward to Terry Wogan's usual wit. He's the best part so far as I'm concerned. Pauline
