can i warn all the g.c members that i have had four emails from a person on the topics board who has sent me emails with attachments to them .the symbol is a paperclip and could contain a virus.if you have a reply from this person do not open whatever they send you with a paperclip at the side of the email . i sent this person an email and she has sent me five emails back with an attachment.do not open these.

Hi Lisa, See my thread -Is this a SCAM? Personally i have stopped opening attatchments to e-mails because ive got so paranoid lately about this sort of thing. I have heard recently of people sending virus's through this sort of message board. Thanks for the warning. Elaine. x

Can I ask why she contacted you in the first place are they a genuine member of these boards or an imposter sending you a virus. Debbie

Lisa, The paperclip doesn't mean its a virus, just that its a an attachment. if could be anything, a census scan, a word document, erhaps even an attached email. don't ASSUME the worst... but invest in a virus checker instead.

Paul, you said it for me. all my attachments are shown as a paper cliip. If they contain a virus Norton delete the attachment and warn you. It may not even be the person's fault as that is what viruses do, they use other mail addresses to send you a virus. If you send someone an attachment tell them in the body of the message what you are sending. if you receive an attachment from someone you know and are nervous about it, instead of just not opening it and maybe missing something important, e mail the person to ask if they have sent you anything in an attachment. When you say 'topics' board which board do you mean? Ann Glos Glos

paul i am very wary at attachment emails as we caught a virus on opening one.i am a bit suspicios when the same person keeps sending me emails with attachments for no apparent reason.

Lisa Cant you give us some more clues as to her name? Have you caontacted her in the past? Have you asked for any look ups? She might be sending you a census page or something. Debbie

Lisa, Does the attachment come with a message from this person or just an attachment with no message. As I have received several messages from members with an attachment (virus) that has attached itself to their message through no fault of theirs but that should not stop you from reading the message if you have norton anti virus.
