Hello Sue Am really glad to hear that your partner is back home where he belongs. Take care of yourself. My eldest daughter was also diagnosed with petit mal/absence three years ago at the age of 5. What a shock. I spent 6 months resisting the consultant's advise to medicate her (with Epilim) since I read lots of horror stories on the internet. We finally agreed, and she was on it for 2 and a half years, until January, when he said she could stop. Another heart-stopping time, BUT, touch-wood she has not had an episode since, and seems to have grown out of it. Keep smiling. Love Suzy x

Sue PLEASE don't feel embarassed or apologise for posting this thread. There are loads of good, kind people on GC who genuinely care for each other. I have been on the receiving end of such kindness due to a recent bad time, and it's been such a help. i have a friend who used to fit every day,this time last year she had an operation that removed a tiny part of her brain(sorry dont know correct terms)now she is cured and has not had a fit since.

Many thanks to everyone for your kind words and wishes. I must admit to feeling very embarressed at having poured my troubles out to everyone and I do apologise wholeheartedly. Les is now home and, apart from being battered and bruised, is in good spirits. The house is now back to its normal chaotic self LOL!! Susie and Mandy, I know what you mean about Petit Mal/absence seizures as my oldest daughter suffers from them and used to constantly get into trouble at school for not paying attention!! The school are now aware of the problem and have been much more supportive of her. Oh well, a couple of headache pills and an early night I think. Best wishes from a now much happier Sue:-)))))))

Sue Sorry to hear this, but glad you could put it on this site - this is what we're all here for, to support and care for one another. I hope these replies have helped you at this tricky time. sue youve got all my sympathy and understanding my brother is epileptic and has grand mall seizures.he also has petite mall seizures as well i know exactly how you must be feeling(a big hug) my brother also has absences. i feel guilty because i often tell him to answer me when im talking to him but then i realise that hes gone into an absence!! they are another form of epilepsy send your hubby my love and a great big hug love susie

Hi, What a worry. I hope he recovers soon. It is hard to get on with day to day things when you are so worried and have children to look after as well. I am thinking of you and your hubby and hope all goes well. Best wishes, Sandra

My partner Les is epileptic, he usually has a seizure about every 4-14 days but this morning he kept fitting about every 5-10 minutes. The worst bit about it is that he is violent with it, he lashes around with his legs and arms and it makes it hard to get near him to give him any medication. We ended up with a paramedic, a doctor, 2 ambulence men and 3 police officers just to restrain him enough to try and sedate him. He arrived at hospital at 12 o'clock and I rang at 12.45 to see how he was( I could not go with him as I have 3 children at home and 1 at school to look after), I was told that he was sleeping (relief) and that he was the next to be seen by the doctor so ring again in an hour. I rang at 1.55 and was told that he still had not been seen! He is a wonderful person and I love him to bits, this is the first time that he has been this bad in over 3 years and I think I am just shaken because I thought we had seen the last of these type of seizures. Sorry to be such a downer on such a lovely day, just had to get that off my chest. Sue:-/
