I agree with most things that have been said here. Remember that written word: a) cannot be retracted once written, b) And can be misconstrued. Spoken word – due to facial expressions, mannerisms etc – the same phrase – CAN take on a different meaning. I may not have helped many people, BUT I have enjoyed my time on Genes Connected and made some connections. I am not going to leave. I also like to think I have mad some friends too. What I would like to see – is all the bickering/backstabbing/call it what you, will stop. If, after opening a thread, you do not like the contents, DON’T reply. REPORT it. By replying, IF the thread is there to wind up, then: a) it won’t work b) And if you have reported it – hopefully it will have been removed. There is a phrase – Don’t lower yourselves to that standard. Stop and think. Liz

I also agree with Dawn and Aileen, any threads that I don't like or don't agree with, I just ignore them. If everyone else did this, certain people who cause trouble on here would not get their kicks. I have also made many friends on here and will not stop using the boards because of a few people who like to stir things up. Maggy

I am aware that there has been lots of sniping on the General Board recently but to be truthful I have ignored it. If members are leaving because of it then I feel that they are 'cutting off their noses to spite their faces' because this site is firstly a Family History site and worth every penny, with or without the general board! Secondly I feel that GC would find it much easier to monitor rogue comments or questions if they were ignored by all other members. That way the monitors could look at every post with NIL answers to see whether the reason for their lack of response is because they are unsuitable or offensive. The culprits will soon get fed-up!! The only other way forward is to close down the General Board for a season which would be a shame as the majority of people on this site are brilliant. Aileen

I hate all these petty arguments (could go and stand in the school playground for those) and I like others, just walk away and come back later when there are more friendly people around. Life is too short, to fight all the time

rach we all love using the site, for some of us its a lifeline, to further our genealogy and make new friends, the upset that has been caused could have been avoided, if certain comments hadn't been so vicious in the first place. Or if a public apology had been made to all concerned. I to miss the great friends i have made and hope that they will return, we all give our opinions in debates and listen and respect others comments, when they are not vicious. take care sandra

Just recently there has been a lot of nastiness on the site. Some of it I admit is deserved. Im finding myself checking what it is I am writing just to avoid any come back on my opinion. I love using this site and the people on here are absolutely fantastic I just think it is such a shame that some of these lovely people are not renewing their memberships for this reason. What can we do?... Take care RACH...X
