At last i have found someone who is as scared of dentist as me, My dentist chuckles to himself as i am the only patient he has that there knees actually knock together. Maz - friday last i had a permanent crown down and i am a NHS patient as my crown is White!! my dentist removed my gold one about 4/5 years ago. He told me that the gold bit is now inside the crown but the outside is white. Anyway good luck, i guess the hard bit is over now, the permanent one are not bad, no pain. Sue-Manchester

Hi Folks and thank you all SO MUCH for your good wishes! Well, its all done and the temporary crowns are in place. I lost about 4 hours completely yesterday and still feel a bit shaky now, but at least I've lost a bit of weight! Gotta go back in 2 weeks for the real ones to be stuck in - they will be gold as apparently you can't get white on the NHS!!!!!!!! I shan't be turning into a rapper/Mel C though as they are at the back! The worst part was sitting in the chair waiting for the anaesthetist to get off of his blimmin phone - dentist and nurse were NOT amused!! I would just like to say a public *BIG THANK YOU* to Andy my hubby, who has looked after me superbly over the last 24 hours. After sedation you are not allowed to cook, pick up a kettle etc etc so he has done EVERYTHING! What a star!!! Good luck to you too Barry - you are much braver than me!! Maz. XX

Hi Maz You'll be absolutely fine. As a dental phobic myself I know from lots of experience that the waiting is worse than the event. Dentistry is so good these days that even quite complicated things are pain free. You just need to relax. Angela

Hi Maz, Hope you are feeling ok. I hate the dentist and haven't been for 5 years, I only go when I'm in real agony, had to have 3 wisdom teeth out last time, have lost 3 teeth in the last 2 years including a crown, mind you I can't even find one round her who will take me on as a nhs patient. Hi Maz, Well it's 10.39 and you're probably in the waiting room as I type. Don't worry as all things come to pass and the deed will soon be done. All this will soon be history and then you can breathe a sigh of relief! I hate the dentist too so I do understand how you are feeling Aileenx

In case you check GC before your appointment: my husband hates going as well. Whenever we have something we dread doing I always think of something else I dread even more and think to myself "well, I could be doing THAT instead". Wish you the best.

I'll be thinking of you Maz, it's always a nerve wracking time going to the dentist. Like Fred says, it'll all be over soon. Just make sure they use plenty of anesthetic! Take care, and chin up, just lay back, eyes closed, and think of England! Lisa xx

Maz, will be thinking of you. I'm the biggest coward going when it comes to dentists - I'm terrified of mine (and he's terrified of me, in case I bite him!!).
