My school memory is more of a nlghtmare. Going back to 1954 ish at Roding road Loughton, it was the Mental Arithmetic classes. They were held in the wood work class and we had to sit on the benches. Every time we got a question wrong we were moved down the room. It was my worst subject and I always ended up at the back of the class with more splinters in my Bum then anyone else. O Happy Days !!! hi i hated school from the first day at 4 years old remember it well till i left at 15 i think i learnt move after i left than all the years i spent in school loved the school dinners though lol tina xxx

I loved primary school hated my high school in oz but went to school in the uk and loved it i went socialize with everyone thats all and have agood old laugh hated biology proberly why ive got 3 kids didnt listen well enough how i got pregnant hehe

My best time at school was the day I left.

morning primary school was ok, though i went to 3 cos parents kept moving, middle school i was pushed in the swimming pool and got my foot caught under the bar on the side and nearly drowned. comprehensive was a nightmare, i was bullied from day 1, i had a double barrell surname so that made me a snob, i was beaten up, thrown in the pond on my way home,called names evreytime i got top marks in exams,got the edge of the ruler across my knuckles by a drunk cookery teacher because my writing wasn't neat enough, and had to kneel with my arms stretched out with books on my head for laughing in registration. the only good thing was my 3 best friends and 30 yrs on we still are. I went to a different secondary for the last year which was much nicer. and the only good memory was running cross country with steve ovett when he was training. well you did ask!! lucky i turned out to be rather nice if i say so myself lol sandra

Hi Julie, Primary school was great fun for me, while 8 years at boarding school was bit of a nightmare. I remember begging my parents to take me away on more than one occasion. The phrase "totalitarian regime" had real meaning then, as you didn't have any privacy during the full 24 hours. So anyone was vulnerable to bullying, lots of us experienced it, usually one or two boys were targetted each term. I remember my term was the spring term of my fourth year, I could have jumped off the school roof! After that, university was absolutely fantastic, I called it my "Prague spring" (Dubcek was doing his thing in Czecho at the time). I became a whole person again, although I've never been able to get rid of the large defensive shield I can still lower when I feel under attack! Possibly that's aided by being a cancerian (you know, crabs walking sideways - lol!) Philip

I agree with Trish (funny we went to the same school too!!) I left on 27th May 1977 at 4.15 a day I will remember for the rest of my life because I was so happy:)

At school during the war years. We had Domestic Science class which was divided into 2 lessons. One week cooking and the next week washing and ironing. Because of the rationing of foods in the war, it was not always easy to be able to take any food to school to cook. If we had no food then we'd get the job of washing teachers underwear - how we all hated this!

i had really good school memories when i went to st.vincent school in gosport.had the time of my life and have made contact on friends reunited with some of my school friends.

Grammar School (co-educational) was OK, especially the sessions behind the bike-sheds after school. Len

I enjoyed just one year of school days. when I was eleven and had a wonderful kind teacher (mrs Owen) who saw beyond the poverty, ignored the state of my scruffiness, and made me a form captain even though I needed help adding up the house points. She taught English Lit and instilled in me a love for the written word. My proudest moment was when she chose me to read out the poem "Patriotism" in assembly when a local councillor was visiting the school.
