HI MARY I know a few people who have used weight watchers and the points diet which has worked for some, i to have to lose weight, due to high blood pressure, i try to do gentle excercise walking for at least an hour a day, which due to disability isn't far as you think. and have cut out all things fatty, and i have smaller portions and eat 5 portions of fruit and veg a day and if i'm hungry in between i drink a pint of water. i lost 2lb this week. years ago i just ate bananas and yoghurt for a month and lost a stone, though it probably isn't good for you. hope you find somethinng that works for you sandra ps my daughters trying the cereal for breakfast and lunch and a small meal in the evening diet only started this week so i'll try and let you know when she weighs herself

UK, my wife and I started dieting a couple of months ago and have lost over a stone each. Not a dramatic weight loss, but still doing quite well, and if we'd stuck to it rather than "falling off th wagon" a few times we'd have done better still. What I would suggest is... if you drink carbonated drinks replace them all firt diet ones or even betetr water. Make sure you eat three meals a day - stopping eating is NOT the answer. Eat SENSIBLE food, lots of fruit and veg etc. Cut down on fried food, takeways, cheese - it's all obvious stuff really. Don't just buy "low fat" meals as they're often full of sugar. But do try and have lots of fruit and low fat snacks around the house - buy these instead of chocolate etc, and then if you do feel the need to eat something, there's something to hand. Make sure you get some exercise. We've got a dog now and the poor things getting it's legs walked off - we walk a few miles a day especially at weekends. Good Luck !!

I have lost a stone & a half since October-ish. A few years ago I lost stones on a sensible diet (which should be for life)which a dietician gave me. EXAMPLE ( adapted by myself that worked for me) BREAKFAST Have a sugerfree cereal eg cornflakes, shreddies, weetabix, rice chrispies, with semi skimmed milk. OR 2 slices toast with low fat spread with marmite (optional) LUNCH & DINNER CHOOSE EITHER Lean Roast beef in gravy ( one portion) with medium jacket potato or medium boiled potato. Unlimited veg. 1 low fat yogurt or peice of fruit ___________________________________________________ I portion fish in sauce with unlimited veg & tinned potatos or boiled potatos, 1 peice fruit or low fat yogurt ___________________________________________________ small tin tuna or mackeral with salad & jacket potato ( medium) 1 peice of fruit or low fat yogurt ___________________________________________________ one packet of 5 slices bernard matthews sliced turkey. Medium jacket potato, unlimited salad. 1 peice fruit or low fat yogurt ___________________________________________________ 1 tin of heinz Big Soup ( beef broth is good) with 2 slices bread/butter. 1 peice of fruit or low fat yogurt ___________________________________________________ MID MORNING & MID AFTERNOON. 1 low fat yogurt or peice of fruit ************************************************** Free foods amongst others salad vegetables.....vegetables.......suger free jelly (Mmm ! ) _________________________________________________ **** peice of fruit is eg apple/ orange/pear (not banana or kiwi) cant remember anymore but a lot mor foods /meals can be added for variety. always remember to consult a doctor before dieting. maybe you can see your practice's dietician ? good luck you WILL do it ! OOps nearly forgot ! If you fancy the odd (yes i said ODD ) glass of wine/SMALL chocolate bar. have ONE..& stop at ONE ! The more you deny yourself something you want, the more you want it ! Thats why lots of faddy diets fail, as when you start eating "normally" the weight creeps on. swimming will help you lose weight as well, but skip the hot choccy or bag of chips on the way home. Prepare a salad meal in advance for your return, with a small bar of choccy as a treat afterwards ! Elaine x

i tried slimming world and before i new it, i had put on nearly a stone, so be really careful before you committ yourself to a class and pay your money. i have now joined weight watchers to try and shift the extra weight i put on at slimming world. Whatever you do, be happy, if you fancy something have in, but in moderation, and above all good luck
