Thank you so much have just found my great great grandfather on the 1881 census.I'am now going to go back too the familysearch site and see what i can find,Thank you all one again have been stuck at this point for a little while will let you know what i find.

Hi Antony, (As a new boy myself!) If you know where they were born, and the approximate date, look up the birth records in the county record office, which will then give you their fathers' names on the birth certificates. Then you can back track to their parents' marriage certificates And so on.... Hope this helps, Philip

hi antony if you post the names of the family and where they are from then i will see if i can find them on the 1891 census also if you go to WWW(.)familysearch(.)org you will be able to use the 1881 census free of charge remove the brackets first from the above web address lol susie

Hi Antony, a census was taken every 10 years, though the earliest that will help any searches is 1841. If they were old enough have a look at the 1881 census (free version on LDS Family Search site). Otherwise it's the 1891 census - what area did you want?

Anthony I am assuming here that you've found them together in the 1901 census. The next step would be to find them in the 1891. Your grandfather would obviously have the same name but if they were married after 1891 then your grandmother would be going by her maiden name. Do you want to reply with what you found in 1901 and I'm sure we can help you work back and explain what we're doing and how as we go Zoe

Have found my great great grandfather and grandmother in the 1901 census,but where do i go from here,I know where they were born(are there any census before that i can get access too)if not what is my next step. Thank you for any advice in advance
