Hi All, Just had to share this, I`m soooo happy! The staff at the Portsmouth cemeteries office are total stars. I phoned them earlier, to try and find out which cemetery my 3x great grandmother was buried in. The guy said I would have to write in as it was a historical search. When I mentioned that I had her death cert, he said as I had the exact info he could look for me there and then! One very happy bunny now knows where and when 3x great grandma was buried. The only downside is, she was buried in a paupers grave, so she doesn`t have a headstone. Rebecca (did I mention I was HAPPY!!!)

Yes. They are so helpful. My inquiry was by e mail, with an approximate death date. It was just a day or so before I was given information about my great grandmother's grave. So pleased for you getting your information so quickly.

Hi Gwyneth, I was very impressed with them when I visited the cemetery, as I mentioned on another thread. When I phoned, I was sure they`d tell me it would take ages, but the man I spoke to couldn`t have been nicer. He even described the paupers plot at Kingston for me, and gave me info regarding Highland Road cemetery, just in case I find any rellies buried there! Rebecca

Hi Karen, Yes, don`t you just love those little maps! I still managed to get confused though, and counted the rows from the wrong end of the plot! Lol
