try some roseclear systemic ,harmless to bees and birds and works very well.I don,t know if you can still buy Tonks garden food,a powder you dig in round the roots twice a year, which is a food and spot killer, these are the two i used on a regular basis whilst i was in the rose growers society,i wouldn,t use anything else because of the wild life [love my moths and birds. Di are you still having slug problems?Us old timers use chimney soot, sprinkled on the soil around the beds. It,s non toxic ,cheap, over the years turns the soil a dark colour ,and improves the structure ,but best of all it,s lethal to slugs and snails but dosn,t harm the birds, Fred the red.P/S if i remember rightly you are supposed to remove the flower the first year ,and let them fruit the next.
