After just spending 2 days in the Lake District - we stayed at a place called Brotherswater on the Kirkstone pass between Bowness and Patterdale - the site was situated in the valley of the Hellvellyn mountain range and was purely idyllic - they even let me have my puppy in my room with me at an expensive cost of £1.20 per night. Just had to share it with you all -

how lovley you reminded me of a camping holiday when i was 6, the geese chased us and we hid in the toilets and they were putting their heads under the door hissing. also some sheep escaped from a field and were in the campsite running in and out of the tents, it was terrifying at the time. But now i can laugh! lol sandra

glad you enjoyed your stay there. We have just returned from 10 days in the Lake District. Somewhere up there i think I saw a quote, " Landscape beauty is a tonic that feeds the soul" or something like that. it is true for me we go every year and love it so much. Ann Glos

The Lake District is my most favourite place anywhere. I used to go youth hostelling there as a teenager and I've taken the kids since. Glad you enjoyed it.

A few weeks ago we went on a Genealogical Holiday to Wensleydale and the trail led to Kendal Record Office. We spent the night at Bowness on Lake Windermere and the following day drove right up Langdale, over Hardknott and Wrynose Passes and through Eskdale. I had to stop almost every hundred metres to take in the beauty. And yet people wonder why I am so proud to be English. Jim
