I agree, it has got me very addicted to all of this, and I agree that it is a worthwhile hobby. Regards Lisa

My other half is a real worrywort with money - I certainly haven't told him what I've spent so far! Its not much...I've only recently started, but I must have spent £100 in the last couple of months on certs and registration fees, and the little bits you spend on 1837 and other pay per view sites soon adds up.

I have probably spent thousands over the years and a great deal of time but it's a very worthwhile hobby/obsession,at least you have something to show for it eventually. Wendy

It's an additive hobby that will cost more than you want to spend on it but causes less harm than going down the pud every night.Although after hitting some brickwalls the pub the seems the only answer. Andrew

It started of with me only have the computer in Jan and I was telling my dad about this site and he got me thinking, mind you any new rellies I find my dad is really excited and really into all this, mind you my sister thinks I am really sad and showing my age, how rude!!! Kate - I am only doing one side of the tree(my fathers at the moment) I did not realize how well I am doing until you said, thanks for cheering me up - no insult to yourself of course. By the way I have stumbled accross info, and with all the lovely kind people on here of course who have helped me Lisa

Hi Lisa, I'm shocked when I add up what I've spent .. at least £1000 on 1837online, a good few hundred on certs (including wrong ones!) membership to this and that ... my kids would die when they think what they may have missed out on !! My 1st year anniversary is coming up on 29th June ... not sure if I will celebrate or not under the circumstances !! LoL. Elaine :-)

I have started tracing my family tree for about 5 months, I have hit a brick wall over a month ago. I have got back to 1794, I have obtained a birth cert. to get the father and mothers name (which is where I am at the moment Thomas year 1794). I appreicate that a lot of people have been doing this for a lot longer than me but HOW much money does one actually spent on finding there rellies?
