CAN YOU HELP WHAT DO I SAY. I BEEN A HOUSE WIFE FOR THE LAST 4YRS AND I DON'T KNOW WHAT TO SAY OR DO. I DID APPLY LAST OCT FOR IT. THEY HAVE RANG UP FOR ME TO GO NEXT TUE IT AT B&Q update been for job interview to now wait 14 days did as you alll said .

My advice is...don't panic! I have been in my present job for 2 years. The funny thing is, you know when you send off loads of application forms, not expecting a reply, well I got 3! Strolled along for one of the the interviews, chatting away, trying to appear confident, giving a load of tosh about how much I knew about what they did, then it dawned on me that I had been giving a load of tosh about the wrong job! However, they took me on - just goes to show they know as little about what they do as the person they're interviewing! Good luck Maggie

Hello Marilyn, Well done with the interview! Know the feeling from past experience. Don't know what job you're being interviewed for, but the general approach is the same. Be relaxed (as far as you can), be friendly and polite, but don't overdo it. Let them come to you with the questions, and don't overdo the answers. If they want further information, they'll come back to you with a follow-up. Above all, don't woffle, if you don't know, say so. And don't forget, an interview is a two way process. They're deciding whther they like you, but equally you're deciding whether you like them. I've been to interviews before now when I've been glad to get away, as clearly the job and the people weren't up my street at all! Good luck! Philip

Good luck just be yourself! If you get it does this mean we won't see you in August? ( If they ask you if you have any questions say you need the 10th August off!!!) Only joking but try to have a question ready they often say have you any questions? Lots of luck Linda x

Marilyn, Don't panic. Be yourself. Smile and let them see what a pleasant person you are and what an asset you would be to the Company. A long time ago I used to take interviews for a company I worked for, and these are the things I looked for in a prospective employee. Go on girl, Give it to 'em and the Best of luck. good Luck. all the advice given is good, although I would add, if they ask you if you have anything to say and you don't, say you haven't. They will probably ask you why you want the job so you could be prepared on that, you don't have to know which one you applied for but could say something like you want to meet people, make your life more interesting, get out of the house, get back into working again. preferably not 'because you need the money'. But try and relax and give answers to questions, but as someone else said, if you don't know don't waffle, interviewers are expert at picking up on when someone 'waffles'. Again good luck, i am sure you will be OK. And if they ask you about hobbies you could be there all day talking about Family History. Ann Glos

Marilyn I think the others have said it really. Be yourself, try to relax. Right about the waffle bit, it's easy to forget when your nervous. Preparation, think about your best qualities and what you can bring and how you would see yourself in the role, that's often the sort of question they ask. Also, if possible be armed with some information about the company or firm whatever it is. They may ask what you know about them so often it helps to have done a little homework. Hi Marilyn, well done on getting an interview. Someone gave me a piece of advice once - 'sell yourself' - without being big-headed let them know what a useful asset you would be to their company. Try and keep calm, I know easier said than done! Good luck, love Mandy :)

Marilyn, Whatever you said in your original application has got you this far - so build on it. Think of all the transferable skills you have used as a housewife - budgeting, organisational, people to name just a few I'll bet!! Be yourself - if you are in a line of candidates all with similar qualifications then it is your personal attributes that will set you apart from the rest. What kind of job are you going for? Have they sent you a job description? Make sure that you tell them how you can fill every part of that job description - don't dwell on areas where you weak - highlight the areas where you are strong. Can you take a walk around the place you are going to work as a customer - get the feel of it and make a note of any questions it raises in your mind. When you go for the interview, dress in something in which you are comfortable, and that makes you feel good!! Smile!! Walk in confidently - tell YOURSELF that you are just the person they need to employ!! Relax!! As someone before said, sell yourself. Just because no one has paid you to do what you have done for the last 4 years, does not mean that what you have been doing is not valuable!! Good Luck, and do let us know how you get on!!! Maggie
