Hello Sarah, Mmm.... yes, it is. I signed on to Friends Reunited about 2 years ago, my sister having told me about it. Haven't used it overmuch, but have regained contact with one or two people I knew at primary school and at university, sometime back in the Middle Ages! Then got involved with GC/R earlier this year, still learning to find my way around. My wife is aware of my interest in family history, and I've done a little bit on her family as well. Don't know if she would approve of the extent of my labours, as her joy in life is running our shop business, while I have more time available in my semi-demi-retired state to concentrate on the important things of life! Anyway, she has got really excited now, as she recently decided to have a look at Friends R for herself, and has been contacted out of the blue by someone she knew at school about the time of the Crimean War (a little later than the Middle Ages - lol!). So there's hope for us all now, and I think she may well develop the bug for family history research. Here's hoping! Philip

my hubby switches off too when i say about this site, funny that as my family are really uneventful compared to his family, i have even started a book theres so much stuff to write on about his history. and thats just form 1964. He just lets it all creep up on him. mind you i think after the one and only time he did do research, he got such a shock he doesnt even go on here to chat to his old friends anymore.

Not in my family it's not!!! As soon as I start talking about family history you can see hubby switch off. No interest whatsoever. Mind you I dragged him down to Dorset a while back to go to the Record Office and while I was searching he went to see the village where his ancestors came from. It's the closest he's got to being interested! Well done for converting him!

After seemingly boring my partner to death with every little snippet I've found (including bending his ear every time I hit a brick wall!) I came home today to find him sitting at the 'puter.....wait for it......looking up his own surname! I better give him the GC web address - on second thoughts, if he becomes as addicted as me we'll be scrapping over who gets to go online. Decisions decisions.... sarah
