I love reading anything I can get my hands on but I have to say Steven Kng's Pet Sematary had me sleeping with the lights on!

hi everyone, i have just ressurected this thread, a good book to read is stonehenge by bernard cornwell i read it and then lent it to my sons 20yr old girlfriend she says the same as me a book you can't put down and there is a bit thats factual towards the end sandra

I'm with Julie Ann on this one, I read auto's and biographies. Some by famous people, but a lot are just by ordinary people. I love to see how the other half live. When you read about what others have gone through, I find comfort in the sheer 'ordinaryness' of my life. Elaine

I like to read horror storys, ghost, crime anything that keeps me on the edge. If the book is interesting i cant put it down cos cant wait to see what happens at the end.

i like reading autobiographys, birographys, and lately ive been reading spiritual books,John Edwards, ne last time, and Derek Achorah, the medium. The book i started to write, about my husband and his brothers and sisters, is still under the bed waiting for me to recover the inspiration and information.

Usually Josephine Cox and E V Thompson but I'm trying to branch out a bit. I'm reading one by Aileen Armitage at the moment but I can't remember the title. I've also read some Wilbur Smith but I don't like all of his books, just the odd one or two. Mel

I love biographies! Read a fab one on Charles Lindbergh last year. The same author, A Scott Berg, wrote a wonderful book on Katherine Hepburn. Now reading 'John F Kennedy--An Unfinished Life'--it's getting close to a certain trip to Dallas, and I'm getting really nervous--as if it's about to happen to him again! Also love anything wrtten by John McArthy--his book 'A Ghost upon your Path' is all about his search for his family history--and about something much deeper, too. Does anyone else read several books at once? As well as JFK, I'm reading a book on pain management, a guide to universities, a book of letters from WW1 soldiers, and a book on digital photography!

anything wrote by VIRGINIA ANDREWS especially the HEAVEN series also the authoress JANET McCLOUD TROTTER brilliant 1800's stories all based in the north east,They are stories that i cant put down. sue

Hi Brian, I am into Barbara Erskine at the moment...the one I have just read was unputdownable. I also like Georgette Heyer, Patricia Cornwell, Kathy Reichs, John Grisham, Robert Goddard and biographies. As you can guess, I read avidly,wish I had more time to do so. Sue

Nat, those are exactly the sort of books I read! I love all the female Irish authors around at the moment. I have some concentration problems and find that I can just about manage these, as I'm a real bookworm. We also have bookcases and shelves in every available space! Fiction - everything from Jane Austen to Joe Orton. I particularly like Reginald Hill, Iain Rankin, Margery Allingham crime novels, Terry Pratchett's discworld series and the Botswana Ladies Detective Agency books. Also classic novels by Trollope, Virginia Woolf, etc. Poetry - all sorts, esp. WH Auden, Wendy Cope. History - anything on the Plantagenets/Tudors. Exploration - the Antarctic. Recently I've really enjoyed Natasha's Dance - a cultural history of Russia, as well as The Curious Case of the Dog in the Nighttime and I Capture the Castle. Helen

I'm just reading 'Seeking Catherine Cookon's Da' by Katherine Jones. Its a very interesting read, especially for people like us - addicted to Family History reasearch. Anne

hi brian i seem to read more in the winter, but i enjoy historical novels,gardening books craft books and ghosts supernatural and mythology i like virginia andrews, santa montifiore ruth hamlton, and loads of others, i have read the harry potter books which i liked and tolkien. lol sandra

a friend of mine,is a well known novelist,she writes historical novels,ghost stories etc,and i would say,she has a comfortable lifestyle. but on television tonite,they announced that j.k.rowling,had just banked two billion dollars for her harry potter books...and some clergyman has made two million pounds in the past year,again writing childrens books. so,do you enjoy a good read?what do you like reading? bryan.
