Yes, I agree advice is sometimes later contradicted. Take for instance breast feeding of babies. One year it's supposed to be better for the baby and the next year not. I always follow my own ways. All this getting up in the middle of the night feeding babies - I gave mine an extra feed around midnight and never had a sleepless night! I don't mind getting up at 5 or 6 o clock, but 3 o'clock. No. Mothers need their sleep as well as babies!!

I try not to read labels. I was put off by a coffee table in bits that said "Easy self-assembly". No, it wasn't. I think we are living in a very wierd world now. when I was younger, if you had an accident or used something incorrectly people told you what a twit you were. Now you sue somebody for emotional distress. I keep getting various dozy bits of information - I work in a school and recently received an article which told me it would be a good idea if I got everything I needed for a lesson before it started. Oh, and if children don't understand what I say its a good idea to say it again in a different way. They also respond well if you use their names, apparently. How did our parents manage? Mine somehow grew all their own vegetables without having labels attached saying "wash before use". as my mother said when I had my first baby and wondered about some advice in a baby manual "Darling, the baby hasn't read it. He doesn't know what is supposed to happen, he just knows what does!"

As regards to the label on MacDonalds Coffee say "Coffee is Hot" thats because I read somewhere that a woman in the US was driving along with a cup of coffee between her legs, when she had an accident and burnt herself. She sued MacDonalds for Mega Bucks because the cup did not show a warning that the contents were hot - never mind the silly idea of holding it between her legs. Lin

On Sainsbury's peanuts: Warning: contains nuts" (talk about a news flash) On an American Airline packet of nuts: "Instructions: Open packet, eat nuts." On a child's superman costume: "Wearing of this garment does not enable you to fly". On most brands of Christmas lights: "For indoor or outdoor use only". (as opposed to what?)
