My husbands great grandfather was a coastguard in Hythe, Kent on the 1891 census. The first two children were born in Sandwich, Kent, the 3rd and 4th were born on the Isle of Wight and the 5th and 6th were born in Hythe, Kent. Tried finding them all on the 1901 census but not a trace of any of them? If they had moved back to the Isle of Wight would this have come under the 1901 English census or if not is there a seperate census for the Isle of Wight - anyone know? |

janine you can look up marriages on the isle of wight family history site from 1837, click on recource centre and look on the ukbmd site for the address. jenny |

Janine Probably of no use to you, but in 1923 when my grandfather was married in Hythe, his address was 5 Coast Guard Cottages. Helen |
