If anyone saw the programme, I remember it said 2 cups of water, 2 teaspoons lemon juice, and was it 1 teaspoon bicarb of soda? put into a spray bottle, Val

Val Think it was 2 of bi-carb. As I was telling Sue Hare last night, I spray furniture polish in the air so it at least smells like I've been busy! lol Jeanette

Air freshener Most commercial air fresheners are expensive and mask the smell rather than remove it. This cheap, effective, homemade method is a great alternative. Mix 1 teaspoon of baking soda, 1 tablespoon of lemon juice and 2 cups of water in a bowl. Wait for the fizz to subside, then stir well and pour into a spray bottle. Spray into the air. The baking soda neutralizes acid odour and vinegar neutralizes alkaline odour.

I missed last nights episode as well, good job they show repeats on DH&L. My mother used to clean and dust with a cloth soaked in a mixture of parafin and vinegar, it has a smell all of it's own, anyone else used this concoction?

Can anyone remeber the tip for home made window cleaner. I know it was a sqit of fairy up liquid and warm water but cant remeber the last thing Debbi

Kim says....one part distilled white vinegar, nine parts water. Rub solution off firmly with old newspaper. Aggie says......After washing windows with a warm soapy water solution, buff up with vinegar and kitchen towel there a page on the Channel; 4 website for HOw Clean is Yor House - all the tips from each programme are there and there's also a forum for others passing on tips

Thanks Zoe and all, must try this out, Think the lads needed extra cleaning on their drinking glasses, most of us don't get them that dirty!!. For those who didn't see the programme, the lad wore his socks, then used them as dish cloths before hanging them out to dry and wearing them again, yuk, Val
