Mine isn't unusual but it's similar to Teresa's. I had been invited to an ex-boyfriend's party as a gesture of friendship, and my now sister-in-law was a friend of his sister. Hubby was down visiting his family and was invited along to the party with his sister. Apparently, he was trying to find a way to get chatting to me, so he sat in my place while I was at the buffet; when I came back he offered me his knee to sit on but I was a bit stand-offish and knelt on the floor. Then I remembered how much my party tights had cost me, and changed my mind!! The party was the week before my 18th birthday and we celebrated our 20th wedding anniversary a few weeks ago. Mandy :)

Hubby was best man at his brother's wedding, I was bridesmaid, as his brother was marrying my best mate, (in fact I introduced them!) Sat next to dishy best man, who had to make a speech in front of 200 guests and was so nervous, I thought he was going to have a heart attack! I calmed him down, rehearsed his speech with him and we've now been married 8 years! Prime example of best man 'getting off' with one of the bridesmaids'!!

Met husband at party of my college friend M who was his ex-girlfriend. We were attracted, but he was giving another girl a lift home & I assumed it was his regular girlfriend. 8 months later, same college friend had another party, invited us both. Husband was phoned for invite but was out and got a message to ring friend, but he didn't. By chance he was working in public libraries and because he had a car was sent on relief to work in village library. He was asked to ring main branch as he knew people there, and when he phoned at lunchtime, because it was quiet, the person at the main branch chatted to him for a bit and said are you going to X's party? So he realised that was what the phone call was about, but didn't intend to go. He happened to be driving past that evening and decided to drop in. He was told a very long, boring story and was still around when ex-girlfriend decided to matchmake with another college friend L. She instantly decided he would be good for me (she was yearning after totally unsuitable bloke at the time) and called me over. I was so drunk I could hardly stand, so asked if I could lean on his shoulder. Future husband said yes, L took photo of us and the rest is history!

I had broken up with my boyfriend for a while and was invited to a party supposedly to try to get us back together. I sat next to a fellow who was told the same thing about his ex. We then found out our exes were dating each other. So we thought we would go out together. The 27th of July will be our 30th wedding anniversary. The other couple married a month later and are also still married.

Met my husband at the firm I worked for. He came there to gain better experience and perfect his English. Met me and stayed. He was 29, almost 30 when we married. I was the first girl he ever took home. We're almost 50 years married now. I asked him out for the first time. I asked him if he would like to come to our folk dancing demonstration at the YMCA. I know now that he doesn't like that sort of thing, but we had to have something to start us off with! Sylvia

I wondered if some of you out there could relate how you met your partners. Some must be quite unusual, funny or even sad. A friend of mine met her other half when she smashed into his sports car. They have been married for 30 years now! Jo.
