You can see "Floozie in a jacuzzi" and other statues along the main street. Wonderful city, wonderful people. Have been twice but wouldn't mind going again. Sylvia

Ooooooooh - I'm so jealous. I've not been for about two years Judge Roy Bean's 45 Nassau Street Dublin (end of Grafton Street) great food and the BEST cocktails Bruxelles (Harry St, off Grafton St) - nice and lively on a saturday night and mainly with young Dubliners (very popular with nurses - but then you'll have the wife!!) Eamonn Doran's (Crown Alley) has been done up and (so I'm told) the food is amazing - if slightly expensive Theres a lovely bar down on teh other side of the Liffey - quite modern and for the life of me I cant recall the name but its NOT Prawda which is awful. Only pub I'd ever go into in Temple Bar is the Ha'penny Inn which predictably is just at the end of the Ha'penny Bridge. Un-boozy things - I'd highly reccommend a trip to Trinity College - on one of the student led tours if you have the time. Wolf whistle at Molly Malone for me - it was always my good luck thing every time I went

Bryan et al Thanks for the tips so far... I think you're right, it's going to be a case of - too much to do, too little time to do it in... but wi have almost three full days and I intend to make the most of them without exhausting ourselves too much :)

The craic is moighty. We went a couple of years ago and thought this is a bit quiet, we crossed a bridge, called the threepenny bridge or something, apologies to any dubliners if its wrong, went up a little alleyway and it was like walking into a new years celebration party, we'd found Temple Bar and its fantastic, I can't wait to go back. Paul if you look on here www.visitdublin.com on here it will give you all the discounts and stuff. The open top bus is really what you want because it goes to all the places on the tour and you just get off when you want nat

Paul I remember the place now. it is Oliver St.John Gogarthy. On the ground floor it is the irish music bar. But you must go upstairs and eat in the resturant. The website for the menu is www.gogartys.ie

Thanks for that :) I am fond of the black stuff myself, so the Guinness brewery trip is essential :) I'm also told that the jamesons distillery is/was near where we're staying (Chief O'Neills is the hotel)

Oh Paul I was there last year. 1st when you are getting around Dublin make sure that you get an all day ticket from the bus it works out cheaper. Guiness factory is well worth the visit just to see the view and get your free guiness. We got an all day ticket for the tour buses and you can get off when you like really we had a fun day doing that getting wet it was raining You have to go in one of the irish pubs for the music it is fab, but get in there early so that you get a sit, or you will be standing for most of your time. The dublin story is also very good. Have fun we did. The best place to eat is where Craig proposed to me it was the best in the Temple Bar area and the mussels and prawns were to die for, but I can't remember the name of it I have the card of it at home so will email you it tonight. It is abit expensive but well worth it. I wouldn't go to the American diner I didn't enjoy that. Nat

OK, here's your challenge for this afternoon, should you choose to accept it. Am off for a weekend in Dublin with the wife tomorrow. We have ZERO plans so far. Never been before. We're staying in the Temple Bar area, we've thought about a trip to the Guinness factory and been told that Grafton Street is good for shopping. So... an essential guide please, good clubs, pubs, restaurants, places to visit ? Thanks Paul & Sharon
