I had a fall nearly 2 years ago. My foot went on the edge of 2 paving stones that were uneven outside a shop. I suffered a bruised knee, a broken hand and severe bruising to one side of my chest for which I am having hospital visits. We tried to claim compensation for at least the pay I lost from work but..... the difference in the 2 pavings was not the required amount so therefore the Solicitor said it would not be worth fighting the claim. My husband took photos of my injuries and also of the paving. With hindsight, we should not have produced the photos of the pavings but left them to investigate as by that time, the difference was more marked. A few weeks later the pavings had been relaid. When I fell, the Manageress from the shop took me in and called for my husband to take me to hospital as I refused an ambulance. She did say " I hope the paving is not our responsibility as it will cost us a lot if you claim". So if you do make a claim, get us much info and evidence as you can but hold onto it. havent been on here for 2 nights, had arguement with teenage daughter, decided to go for a walk as its the only escape, until she visits boyfriend. only got few steps from house and tripped over cracked paving stone, went down like a brick, couldnt catch myself and hit head on concrete. 2 neighbours brought me home, 2 lumps on head, got hubby home, as hes first aider and casualty is to long a wait. next day got up with stiff arm, bruising, had intended visiting doctor on my day off for amitripyline hydrochloride for headaches, well i certainly had a headache that day. i wasnt going to give in to the medication, but pain was getting too much from neck problems prior to fall, regarding fall, local council told me to put in a claim.
