I was struck not just by the pay, but the difference between pay for men and women in the same job. Wouldn't be allowed now thank goodness. Angela

When you think what they earned a year and what a 21yr old can earn a week now !!! Been up in Mum & Dads loft today and got a few things that were interesting a few old papers and a load of press cuttings form 1946 on Boxing and the boxers.Just going to have a good look. Am going to clear loft out tomorrow with my son and my Dad as mum will be out and they can get rid of a load of rubbish but I get first pickings !!!!.....LOL

HI JAN IN 1976 FOR 4 HOURS AT WOOLIES I WAS PAID £2.22 AND WHEN I MARRIED IN 1978 HUBBYS APPRENTISHIP WAGES WERE £15.00 A WEEK. HOW THINGS HAVE CHANGED LOL SANDRA

You were lucky to have 11 pound a week. I had 25 shillings. I used to cycle to work and to evening school. My mother had 20 shillings and I had 5 shillings. Sylvia
