I devoured Enid Blyton as a child. The Famous Five, the Secret Seven, the series with adventure in - Castle of Adventure, River of Adventure, Ring o'Bells Mystery etc. When I studied her as a children's author on my librarianship course I was appalled at how bad a writer she was! Also liked Katy stories (Susan Coolidge) and Milly Molly Mandy. But I think my favourite was (who wrote it) a girl called Elizabeth who could visit her own doll's house. It had a naughty monkey, a wooden doll called Vanessa, one called Jane and a rag doll called Lupin.

I can't be the only one who loved the Magic Faraway Tree series? My favourite was the Saucepan Man with his little poems.

My Favourite were the secret 7 series..still got all the books. always wanted a dog like theirs..but got given a hamster instead, which was nice but just didn't look right on secret missions! never did like the Famous 5 they all seemed like smug little buggers to me.

mr pink whistle......I remember having what katy did, what katy did next and selina at the abbey but I dont think they were enid blyton books. jenny

I used to devour all Enid Blyton books as a child. Read them till the pages fell out. She might have been a dreadful woman, and mother, but by heck she could write a cracking kids story. Maggie

I liked most of Enid Blyton's books. Malory Towers, St Clare's, famous five, secret 7, the adventure books. Liz

I loved the Malory Towers books and I also was desperate to go to boarding school!! I read an article about Enid Blyton a few years ago which claimed that she abused her own daughter/s, as well as being rather a strange person.

I loved all the Enid blyton books, The ones about Mallory Towers were good too, I can remember pestering my parents to send me to boarding school after reading them, lol Also the Naughtiest Girl In School was a fave:-))

I hated Enid Blyton as a kid... Preferred Richamal Crompton (William), Arthur Ransome (Swallows and Amazons) and W E Johns (Biggles)

Hi John, I've been reliving my childhood by reading all my old Enid Blyton books to my younger kids. How very middle class they all were and how un-pc too. The 'mummy's' all had a lady who came in to help with the house work and there was always some poor kid called Fatso! I think my favourite characters were George(tomboy) and Timmy the dog. They had more 'balls' than all the boys put together. Christine

I say John - did you enjoy the famous five too? how spiffing! I cut my teeth on Noddy and like you progressed to F.Five.As a matter of interest there is an article on Enid Blyton in the Mail today (havent read it all) but apparently she was one rather "colourful" lady and not at all into children - even her own! Jacqui

Which one for you? When I was really young I enjoyed Noddy. After that I found the Famous Five were often gripping books!
