Sorry william,but coastal command was given over to the raf very early in the war ,and was placed in 19 group for anti sub,shipping work ,and search and rescue ,it,s a pity that the lady doesn,t know his service number ,we could have helped more ,i suppose i could check out the squadrons in the south ,that should narrow it down a bit. Ive just found a website for you Jill,[ww2 ex raf .co.uk],its full of people looking for lost comrades ,and has a section on libs ,and their bases.Fred. |

Jill As Coastal Command was under the control of the Admiralty during WW2, it just might be worth approaching them. Or type in Coastal Command to see if they can tell you. The vast majority of Liberators flew on anti-submarine duties with Coastal Command, or in the Far East, only a handful were ever used by RAF Bomber Command. Records of personnel are held at RAF Innsworth. |

cheers Fred....its someone called Eric Haswell and he flew with Coastal command...he's in his 80;s now and cant remember what squadron he flew with!! |

just type raf bomber command into your search engine ,it will give you all the sqadrons ,the type of aircraft ,and has an e/mail address to get in touch with the webmaster for further info ,have fun ,Fred.you could also apply for this mans service record as well if he is related to you ,this would give you all the info on said person from the day he joined ,training ,squadron attached to airfields served at ,service number ,rank ,job ,and it goes on. if you want to go down this road the records will cost £25 ,and i can give you the address you will need. |

I'm looking for info on anyone that flew Liberators within coastal command in the south of england. they would have trained with canadians and flown with americans... trying to find which squadron Eric Haswell flew with.. Any info on any of the above would be appreciated!! Jill x |
