has anyone else been plagued today by these horrible creatures! I was sat in the garden this afternoon and they just seemed to appear from nowhere.. hundreds of them! I was fighting a losing battle withonly a kettle full of boiling water!! It only seems to happen on one day of the year ?why

They are really getting on my nerves!! Got a terrible problem with ants in the garden and occasionally in the house. Apparently the flying ones are the males (that explains a lot then LOL!!) and this time of the year is when they mate. I'm not sure if they die within a few days after mating too. There you go - science lesson over!! Tracey

Morning Tracy, We've got a bigger problem with ants this year than we have had in the past - they've pushed up all the sand from under the patio slabs - so they will need re-laying. Going to cement them in this time - let the little b****ers try and push them up!!! Our 'wing' day was at the week end but there's still a few around - always somebody late for the party lol Magsx

Morning Mags! Theres loads under our patio slabs, hubby lifted a couple the other day and tons came out. Me and my two kids were trying to stamp on them. We got quite a few but what can you do! We've used the powder, the sprays, the gel, i think like you say the problem is just getting worse. We've never had trouble with them this bad before. Tracey

Tracy - I'm sure nature has gone barmy this year - flowers are blooming twice, seeds aren't germinating at all, plum tree looks as if it's had it completely and I've got some really strange coloured bees around - must be global warming!! Magsx
