You could try contacting you local theatre groups to see if they have any suitable costumes that you could borrow or hire at a nominal fee. If you do, ask each one if they can recommend a theatre group that has a large costume store. Cheers - Chris

Dee great minds think alike, but I used flour and water. One thing is make sure the balloon don't burst as mine did on the first attempt, boy what a mess on the ceiling. Jill

Hi Wendy A good few years ago my boy's went as donald duck and micky mouse, I made the heads for them using a large balloon that I covered with paper machie after a few coats just bust the balloon you can shape it before it gets to dry and add the beak and comb later then paint it. You could sew feather boa's to their clothes like I did for donald. They lasted for quite a few years and were lent out a few times for other fancy dress partys, I was quite chuffed as I had never done anything like that before,YOU CAN DO IT. Best of luck. Jill

Some years ago ( 12 to be precise lol) My neice had to be a cow for her ballet production. Her gran ( my Mum in law) found a Butterwick pattern in her local haberdashry department of John Lewis - there were all sorts of costumes in pattern to make up. Hope this is of some use. Much happiness ( and good luck ) Debi

My niece asked me to look on the internet for her for ideas on how to make a chicken fancy dress costume,or chicken hat etc for a play she's helping with where lots of people are chickens.I couldn't find much ,just a few expensive costumes which could be reproduced but would also be very time consuming and expensive to make.Has anyone got any ideas or know where I can look? Thanks very much, Wendy
