Has everybody got a copy of the spoof booklet 'Preparing for Emergencies' by 'The Government of Paranoia'? It was written by a student and put on the internet for a laugh - the government have objected and an article in The Mail says that they have insisted it be withdrawn. If anyone would like a copy - my son sent it to me from NZ. It's not for those who take this sort of thing seriously - but a very tongue in cheek response to the government's efforts ! Magsx

no i haven't got ours yet but i assume all the information is quite straightforward and things we already know.think it is so nice for the goverment to bring out these booklets now .why has it taken so long?september 11th happened three years this year.you would have thought they would have printed them sooner.thanks to the goverment we're more at risk now then we have ever been.do you think they know something we don't know.i still think that their intelligence forces have known something for a while.only today on the news they have stated that the intelligence in pakistan have arrested an al quieda suspect and found a computer with information about bomb targets in america and great britain.

Haven't had ours yet, so obviously there won't be an emergency yet. In the event of nuclear attack I don't think there is much we could do anyway. A few tins of baked beans won't be much help there! By the way, before you are all terrorised by terrorism - I have the excellent "A Short History of Almost Everything" by Bill Bryson, in which he informs us that: roughly 3 times a week the earth narrowly misses being hit by a meteorite there is a volcano under almost all of Yellowstone Park in the US which is due to erupt any day now bacteria can survive on almost anything and reproduce like anything - they evolve mutants all the time we are heading towards another ice age so we may all freeze to death global warming means we will all be drowned. Oh and a few people believe that the end of the world is nigh and we are all doomed. Take your choice. Helen

I have only briefly scanned it but no doubt someone in the media will say its scaremongering in parts.I grew up in N.Ireland during 'The troubles' and I have to say that the threat of bombs and other such like doesnt exactly bother me.Of course,no-one should be dismissive of any threat to our society but most of the advice is common sense anyway. The only worry I would have is for the safety of my family in a nuclear attack but you cant live your life in constant fear of that happening.

Brings back unhappy memories of WWII. My mother used to store tins of food in our old copper. Sylvia
