Ive been hit by one. Check your phone bills for 0900 numbers and call your telephone provider. They will give you an internet site called icstis.org.uk , this will check whether or not these numbers are under investigation. Seemingly your computor is dialing 0900 numbers and your not aware of it. Something to do with hackers. It dosnt seem to be a problem for broadband users but if you are on dial up you could end up with huge phone bills. According to the lad I spoke to at BT some people are getting bills of 1000's of pounds, I must be one of the lucky ones my bill has been worked out at 225 from bt and 80 from sky talk who has now been cancelled. You can get a block put on 0900 numbers but you need to phone your provider for this. Maggie

Download and install SPYWAREBLASTER (directions on TIPS board, thread "1 Stop Routine PC Maintenance.") SpywareBlaster will prevent these dialers from installing themselves on your PC without your knowledge. Judy :)

There have been so many complaints that ICSTIS have had to take action. From this month (I think) any phone company cannot allocate premium rate numbers to a service provider unless they have written permission from them. The first thing to do is complain to your phone company then ICSTIS. If they have not followed the rules then you should not be liable. And of course as Judy says as above and /or upgrade to broadband if you can afford it. And if it's any consolation, I have been "computering" for 20+ years and got caught by one. Bob
