Thank you all for your messages of support. We did indeed talk about the good memories we have.As Mum is not so able now, I placed flowers on Dad's grave, which is in a churchyard surrounded by the Roman walls of a castle, -such a peaceful setting. Thank you for your kind words.

Gwyneth I know my Gran , although widowed for 30 yrs upto her death this year, had a few dates she would hate being on her own Easter when Grandpa went, his birthday and their wedding anniversary. We always made sure that someone was with her during these times to help her through or take her away on holiday. He would be remembered but it wasn't too sad for her or us. Will be thinking of you both Much happiness Debi

Hi Gwyneth I'll be thinking of you and your Mum. My Mum has been a widow for just over 2 years and although she is an outgoing person I think she finds it difficult not having a companion to share things with. Love and Hugs Jeanette

I'll be away from home and a PC later in the week while I visit Hampshire to be with Mum as we remember 6 August 1974, when Dad died suddenly on a day trip out with Mum's relatives. 30 years is such a long time to be widowed and on her own.
