Julie - that is so nice, bless him. Now's the time to show him how to make a casserole - so easy to do and he will be chuffed to bits to think he has made dinner. I think I have been lucky with my two. When my son was in his teens he used to cook Sunday dinner if I was gardening and when he was out of work for a couple of weeks me and my husband used to arrive home to find the dinner ready and waiting. thank you all for your nice comments. dont get me wrong its not all lovely as you being mums will know. He can be typically male'ish but as he is growing up i'm trying to teach him that mums arent slaves and he CAN do stuff for himself.

He is only 7 years old. He likes cheese butties for breakfast at weekends. I got up early this morning to read everyones messages. He came down stairs, gave me a hug and told me he loved me. I said "I won't be a minute son, I 'll do your butties, just bear with me". He said, "that's ok mum, i'll do them". He went into the kitchen. Unbeknown to him, I stood back and watched him. He carefully buttered his bread with the last of the butter, he put the tub in the bin and added his cheese spread and cut his butties into quarters. He placed them neatly on the outer edge of his plate and put a blob of brown sauce in the middle of the plate. (this is how I would do it for him). Looking very pleased and proud of himself, he shouted "mum" and started to walk to me to show me what he had done. As he looked up, I was stood there with a beautifull warm feeling in my heart as he hugely smiled back at me. I gave him the biggest hug and told what a clever lad he was. He said "thanks mum". Something so simple can make you feel so proud and happy. My lads growing up and I am very proud of him.
