Hi Everyone Well, we really don’t know where to start. Perhaps we should say that all the kids have gone home and we have talked about what this invasive cancer means to us and our lives. We have cried in each other’s arms and we now have to put into words and share with our “Genes Family” what we are going through. I have been a part of GC for a while – Rob agrees, he has always been one of those "indifferent other halves” – he couldn’t understand the bonding, the relationships and the feelings that we could/do build for each other. Last night, we sat together at the puty and read all of your replies to all three threads, and Rob doesn’t mind admitting that he cried buckets – we cried in each others arms at the absolute love, friendship and united support that has been thrown our way by you wonderful lot. Yes, we both share terrific fears about the next few months:- Me – yes, am a bit scared about the pain, the chemo (not bothered about losing my hair – am not that vane!!), the fact that I’m going to have that “you’ve got cancer look” about me and that I’ll look/might go skeletal. I am strong, I have this cancer and I’ll do everything I can to fight it. Both mine and Rob’s family have been marvellous, they have been supportive and honest with what we are about to go through. Them and our close neighbours have assured us that all the pressure will not be just on Rob to take me for appointments for chemo etc – a relief to us both. But my biggest drive apart from Rob is you lot – I just can’t believe how many people are prepared to travel to Bucks to the meet that the wonderful Donna (much supported by Susie) has organised. My God – you just don’t know the power you all have – it’s so positive, it’s so strong – it drives me – thank you. Rob – I am scared for Gaynor for what she is about to endure. Scared that I may lose the most precious thing in my life. Scared to see my wife in pain. Relieved that I have so much support – but, here I have to say I am just so glad that Gaynor found Genes Reunited. Reading what you have all said about Gaynor, the support and encouragement that you are all showing and giving to both of us has deeply moved me, and that’s the biggest understatement in the world. I know we can both conquer this thing and all of your help and support means so much. I have promised Gaynor that I will keep you updated with her progress as there will be times when she can’t read the threads, but the times that she can, she will cherish your warmth and love that you appear to show for her. Both of us would like to say – thank you so much for everything that you have done and we both look forward so much to 16th October. You have to be warned that you will be meeting two people who will have no compunction about sharing their emotions – we will both cry so much on that day and guess that some of you will cry with us. We fly to Belfast on Thursday to spend a long weekend with very dear friends (what good timing) and shall not return until early Monday evening. We will catch up with you then – promise. Much love and deep affection – we do both need you so much. Rob says stay with it cos miracles do happen if you really want them to ……… Gaynor & Rob xxxxx
