Not been on site for a couple of days, so have I missed anything? God, I hate to miss a rumble, so please fill me in! I like this site, some like-minded individuals with the same dark sense of humour as mine - why would I leave? Jacqui

No way am I leaving. Where else would I get the help and support that I get from all you wonderful, kind people. Jean x.

Why is " a vociferous minority" so called? Because they don't let the majority be heard. I find the administration of GR inept in some respects but the concept is brilliant and the site well worth the tiny amount I pay to them each year. I use Curious Fox for their expertise but this site is so much more fun - and much more up close and personal. Len

Does this mean then if I start my own website up about genealogy, then I will be asked to leave this site? Sue

Sorry Lisa but what do you expect, Gillian has asked us all a question and we're all entitled to give our opinion. If the responses are getting up your nose fine do what the rest of us do - don't click on the title. I personally love a good debate - keeps the think tank ticking. Me I'm staying, personally why go to another site that is a replica of another - it's a shame Colin could not have any original ideas of his own, but sort to line his pockets on the achievement of someone else's inspiration. Anyway thats my ten penny's worth, and if it has upset anyone I'm not apologizing - IT'S MY OPINION which was what was asked for in the beginning. Lin ps - who's going? joking!

i'm all for gillian's question and it wasn't that that got up my nose.paul said something that somebody else picked up on and that got up my nose not the question.read the answer paul gave .he said the good outweighed the bad and the bad always shout the loudest.implying that the ones that have a view and are giving it are causing trouble.as i've said before this is a debate but and i feel that pauls remark was offensive.

So far have refused to drawn in to this arguement debate or what you want to call it........ But i must just state that colins site is NOT a repilca of this one . The main difference being in that if you have a problem and report it, you are repiled to within hours not days unlike on here.

Lin I assume you have not been on Colin's site so do not actually know what he has to offer. OK, like most things these days nothing is a brand new idea, Colin built on the idea that GR had, bu that is what happens in life and business, he was entitled to do that. all he was not entitled to do was break GR's 'law' which means he should not advertise his site on their site. They say he did, he says he didn't. there is no need for a slanging match, we are all adults and should be able to have a debate stating our opinions which are all equally valid. Nobody needs to leave GR either, Colin doesn't want that, he would be the first to say that he enjoyed his time with GR, they did a lot for him. Read my thread 're Colin' and see what he says. In conclusion, Colin's site is not a replica of GR. Which is why I belong to both, admittedly i spend more time on here chatting because it is habit, but why would I want to pay extra to join something that is a replica. Ann Glos Ann Glos

Debates are discussions whether for or against - this makes it a dispute. Going by you're responses I must be one of the bad ones on the conclusion that I am not saying what you want to hear. I am saying this, and please note not shouting, that I will be staying for reasons that I have had no qualms or misgivings with GC/GR. I find fellow researches endless in their help and thoughtfulness, the valuable reading and good/warped sense of humour on the boards priceless and going by the success stories well what can I say - inestimable. When I say fellow researchers I mean you lot, you are what makes this site and yes I agree maybe GC/GR should learn the art of decorum - so can I suggest another feature box complaints? Be seeing you Lin

Both GC and Colin's site are good - I intend to stay on both. GC admin seem to act like plonkers though.

I won't leave before the end of my year's subscription. It would not make any difference to the site owners, financially at least because of the thousands subscribing each month (over 90,000 in July according to the newsletter). Joy

Lisa, I replied directly to you last night, in an attempt to stop this getting nastier. But you've decided to bring it back to the board. Now, who was it that was being accused it enjoying the bickering ? If you choose not to accept my explanation of what I meant - fine. But you could have given me the courtesy of replying to the mail rather than just keeping it going on the boards. Paul
