it's a debate board people with views and ernest gave a view with something he didn't like so we have all replyed to him.you did ask what it was about and i told you.

Well Im not leaving either,,so who is? Iv not seen anyone mention they were leaving, I think Colin's site is great,,

can't they reinstate colin? would save on all this bickering from us all.including me

Hi Lisa, That would be the logical thing for GR to do, the point has now been made an as a gesture of goodwill, i think it would be appreciated by the other members if they did this. Sheila hopefully stop the bickering, till the next time :O))

Gillian, Why what has happened? What other side? how can you leave a site with so many helpful people on it, I would not of got where I am with my rellies if it hadn't been for all the helpful people on this site, can't name them as there is too many, but they know who they are.. Sue

Genes have removed a member that has done a lot of good work on this site because he set up a rival site a few months ago (the other side!!!) This member came on the board yesterday to thank people for good wishes as he has just become a grandad. Also he wanted to send his love to a member who is not too well at the moment and Genes deleted his messages upsetting a good friend of ours that was not well. Genes dont seem to want us to debate honestly. A few people have said they are leaving, including myself in the heat of the moment as I was getting annoyed by the whole situation and Genes not replying to e mails. I just wondered how many people would be leaving and if there would be a site left. I wouldnt want to loose all my friends. I just feel very dissapointed with genes at the moment due to not getting what I feel is a proper answer as to why they are deleting threads with no explaination. I hope that this matter soon ends and we can get on with how things were before. I am not going to say any more on the matter I think I have said enough.

I have not yet heard what has gone on yet, but whatever it is I am staying put.

I wont be leaving. There are many wonderful people on this site, who try to help others without gain. I know that I have found these people a great source of information. I am so very grateful to those people. I have also discovered much more about my family history since joining about 2 months ago, than I had since starting my family tree about 2 years ago. Pat

Thank you for clarifying that Gillian, for one moment I thought going the other side meant croaking! But perhaps for some of us who are not so up-to-date with all the internal machinations of genes connected some explanation of all this backstabbing and derring-do would be illuminating? I know I'm naive, but I thought this was just a web site for people who are interested in tracing their family history.

Hi Gillian, can I just say THANK YOU! Finally, somebody has explained what this was all about! Just checked the boards and found all the threads about this. Seen several people asking for explanations, but your is the first comprehensive one I've seen! I think perhaps GR create a lot of this discussion by not giving straight answers to straight questions. Michelle's thread (which I nudged a short time ago) has lots of queries on left unanswered. That sort of thing is bound to encourage a 'them and us' situation. I think the site's great. Met lots of lovely people, made new family-and friends. the ONLY thing that upsets me about GR is the poor contact between members and management. I know it's not a co-operative, however it would be nice if emails were replied to, and if threads started by GR were then answered fully by GR. Thanks for listening! Sal

The problem as to why people who have not been on the boards for a while dont know whats been going on is because Genes have deleted the threads. im glad I could shed some light in this for you all. Perhaps they should start a new soap opera based on us on theses boards, probably more entertaining than Corrie or East enders. Can I have Scarlett Johanson playing me we are very similar. Lmao

No I won't be leaving either. As someone said earlier, why should I cut my nose off to spite my face? I have had so much help and so much fun, so many laughs and also a few tears with the people of this site. Maggy
