I'm probably stirring up a hornets nest here, but my hubby is a good driver up to a point. a. He gets to close to the car in front. b. He drives to fast. other than that he's fine. I do get a bit nervous sometimes like tonight. (I've just got home) Jo.

I can echo your sentiments Joanne, I just learn to hold my tongue, he's tended to be vocal about my driving, so I refuse to drive with him in the car.

Hi Let me put a man's point of view (why are there more women than men on this iste?). My wife taught me to drive when I was 27. I had no "official" driving lessons and passed first time. My wife is a bril driver and, obviously a bril teacher! I also assume it makes me a bril driver too!! :-)) Gerry

Maz (the Royal One) in the East End 9256 Report 12 Aug 2004 13:13

Since mine started driving to work each day instead of going on the tube, he has got much more aggressive and impatient. He does all the things I shout at other drivers for! Too close, wrong lane, not bothering to indicate etc etc. But I have to say he has not had an accident, so I cannot say that he is careless. THE WORST DRIVERS ARE THOSE WHO DO NOT STRAP THEIR CHILDREN IN. This is my pet hate. I cannot understand or condone this in any way. There is NO excuse!!! Maz XX going off to calm down!!

the only time a woman should drive a man is when he's been in the pub and she picks him up! (hee hee!) paul...

Joanne, One of my pet hates - tailgaters, warn your husband they are clamping down on them. Spouse - my ex - it's the one thing I cannot critise about him. He was an excellent driver and a one point in his RAF career, a driving examiner !! Janet

Well, my wife doesn't drive, so what I think is... about time she learned. Apart from that, in general; Women are more careful drivers, more cautious. Yet they make more insurance claims than men. This is because their overcautiousness frustrates other drivers and leads to accidents. Men are generally more purposeful drivers, and have better spacial awareness and long distance vision, which enables them to drive with the aforementioned purpose. All of the above interpretted from "Why men don't listen, and why women can't read maps" by Allan and Barbara Pease, an excellent book on the differences between the sexes.
