i have a sister,and friends living in the dallas/fort worth area of the states,and just before last xmas they sent over a big box of mixed sweets,and chocs...i found them much to sickly,so i gave quite a few away to the neighbours for their kids...and the kids behaviour got reall bad,so i looked at the packs,and one particular make,that you can buy over here,had 17 different E numbers in them...want mention their name...but i wouldnt touch them with a barge poll. bryan.

Whats in that red smartie colouring ? I had a friend who's daughter was affected by them. When my daughters were small I had a book called E is for Additives - just found it - mines a 1996 Edition - it's by a chap called Maurice Hanssen. ISBN No.0-7225-1150-7, don't know if it's still in print. It gives the E numbers, what they are, what they are used for and any adverse effects.

we have to ration jaffa cakes, had to as our daughter is 18 now she should have some control, did you know that they make a 3 year old so hyper there is noo cupboard too high for a 3 year old to reach. not even the top shelf. she wisely pushed the pedal bin to the cupboard climbed on the work top and got the jaffas. it was like the cookie monster gone mad. we couldnt buy them and had to watch her at parties, it was other orange stuff too like smarties and juice.

If my grandaughter has the red smarties she is hyper within 5 minutes, she goes absolutely crazy. Sue
