Hubby and I have just got back from picking up his boss from Gatwick. What we didn't realise was the Paralympic atheletes returned whilst we were there. It was a great atmosphere, everyone had flags and were clapping them all through arrivals. It was great......

I agree - we should admire the athletes for their talents but I also admire them for their great courage and determination to overcome their physical problems - how many of us would have such grit?

i like to watch the paralympics and the olympics because I like to cheer on England...to me it is just our atheletes that i see that rather than their disabilities. Elaine x

What was that I just caught on the news - children killed on a bus travelling to see the paralympics? I think they said that the closing ceremony would be cancelled as a mark of respect

Oh wow - I am VERY impressed, I think she is brilliant and would have been shouting for her anyway. I would feel very honoured if you could give her my best wishes. I voted for her when she won an award. Chrissie

Christine2 Report 13 Aug 2004 20:49

Oh Fi, I am so disappointed. I always watch the paralympics, I love them, but I didn't realise that they were on straight after the olympics when I shall be on holiday. What are the actual dates please, do you know? Thanks - Chrissie p.s. Yes I shall be glued to the olympics whenever possible.

Daniel Report 13 Aug 2004 20:46

You have to watch the Olympics. I hate sport but just like any other major sporting event, everyone just has to watch. Its an unspoken law in my eyes.

Fi aka Wheelie Spice Report 13 Aug 2004 20:44

What will you be watching? I have a friend who is one of the Paralympians and even though they will not get as much publicity as the Olympians will, I hope people on this site will support them in their efforts. BBC will be showing 1.5 hours of coverage per day of the Paralympic Games so please look out for them 17 - 28 September. By rights they should be competing alongside their Olympic Team Mates!!!! Fi
