I am trying build a family tree on my father name Lawrence. I do not have a great deal to go, all i know is that his name was phillip lawrence and he was born 1952 he died when he was 41 yrs old. He had 3 sisters margeret.daphine and maureen their ages i can not be sure of either. i asume he was born in the hertfordshire area and is buried in letchworth garden city cemetery. He was married 4 times and had 5 children including myself that i know of, the oldest being michelle, eileen and sean which he had with his first wife sue scripes and myself with my mother dawne wilkinson and last child i know of was robert but i can not be certain of his mothers name. I have no contact with his family at all as he agreed to my mother second husband adopting me when i was 8 yrs old and that is where all contact ceased. Any help anyone can offer would extremely helpful.

Welcome Claire and good lick with your quest. If you look to the left of this board the Resource Centre link has lots of help on how to research your tree and on the Tips and Records Office Boards you'll find people who are willing to help with general advice or look ups if you can give as much info as you have. Just to get you started I had a couple of spare credits on the General Register Office site, 1837online and found your dad's death entry and possible birth: Deaths for 1994 Philip Lawrence date of birth 12 May 1952 registered 3/94 District registered Stevenage, district code 5371A, Reg. Number 17A Entry Number 141 Births registered in April, May and June 1952 Lawrence, Philip - Mother's maiden surname Clarke - District Hitchin Vol. 4b Page 229 If you order certificates the death certificate will give you Philip's occupation, address, cause of death and name and address of the informant; the birth certificate will give place of birth, parents' names, including mother's maiden name, and father's occupation. Good hunting Judith
