KRR? Army Regiment - Help Needed Please!

Two of my ancestors are recorded on the 1871 census as being privates in the army, based at The Camp, St Botolphs, nr Colchester in Essex. The only clue as to which regiment they were in is a handwritten note on the enumerator's description page, which reads: "This enumeration is presumed to belong to 4/60th K.R.R." I would like to know what 4/60th K.R.R. means! I am wondering it could stand for King's Royal Rifle corps, but this is a guess. Also, what would the 4/60th mean? Any advice or suggestions of where I could search would be gratefully received. Thank you, Justin in Southampton. |

Hi Justin it would be the 4thbattalion of the Kings Royal rifles who formed part of the 60th regiment The muster books and payment lists for 1855- 1877 are recorded WO12 7010 -7032 Bren |
