have you ever thought about doing something else.bored with the career you've got?i have made a desicion which i have thought about for a while to go back to night school and get some information on becoming a teachers assistant.my sister works in a school and has offered to help me in my quest.will stay in my new job until i get the qualifications to change my career.anyone else thought about changing there career?xxx

thats what i want to do donna better myself and get a job thats not only worthwhile but also rewardingxxx

i think i'm the right age.my daughter will be 14 in two years time .so would like to further my career even more now.thanks for your support.it means alotxxx

I started going to night school when I was a working single Mum just to get me out one night a week. I enjoyed it so much I went on to do A level and then a degree. I've never used it but the sense of achievement cannot be explained. Best feeling in the world that I wasn't the thicko I was told I was at school. I say go for it! Jane

So why don't I look like a page three model??? I do try and put my mind to losing weight and growing up a few inches but nothing ever happens!! Jane

Seriously I am very rich - I have a lovely husband, 2 daughters and 2 grand children. I would still tell you to take whatever opportunity comes your way. If someone had told me I would get a degree one day I would have laughed. It was great when I went back 'home' for a school reunion too. The look at certain faces! Jane

I've always just done jobs to keep us ticking over. BUT on September 13th I start university to train as a midwife. It will take 3 years but I'm so looking forward to starting now. I will keep everyone posted as to how I'm doing. Won't be able to keep it to myself!!!!! Go with gut instinct Lisa and try something different. Julie

Lisa You might not need to go to college. I'm working as a Classroom Assistant, but started out by just helping at the local pre-school. It's a wonderful job......go for it! Natalie

Hi Lisa When i was at school i was involved in a road traffic accident which has left me with a nasty scar on my arm. The doctors told me that i would never get a job because no one would want me with my scar and they said i would never be able to lift things because my arm would not be strong enough. When i left school i did market gardening, whilst at college, and then went on to be a nurse. That was a great achievement for me. I proved the doctors wrong and got the job i had always wanted. Since qualifying (20yrs ago) i have had enough of all the agro that goes on with hospital life Now i am an office administrator for a Naval Charity. I am now having to do new admin courses to keep up to date with the latest techniques. I would like to become a ward clark so i am starting the ECDl computer course in September. Then when the time is right i will go for it. Learning is addictive. Once you start it is hard to stop and if you put your mind to it there is nothing you can't achieve. If you need to get qualifications so that you can get the job you want then go for it. Good Luck Lisa, You can do it. Jane

Hi Lisa Go for it and good luck to you! I have never had a 'career' as such and am thinking about doing something a bit more challenging. I was thinking of something along the lines of teaching English as a second language or teaching numeracy and literacy skills to adults (might have to take a few lessons myself first! lol). But my youngest daughter is only 8 so it may have to wait a couple more years. Jeanette

Go for it Lisa, I was 36 with 4 kids and a husband who had just been made redundant. I applied for a uni place to train as a teacher, they took me with eng. lang. and maths O levels and tons of life experience, it was 4 years hard work, but worth it, I qualified in 1994, got a teaching job in Portsmouth and am now a subject co ordinator at a pupil referral unit in Fratton, I'm not boasting just trying to show you that if I could do it you can, my kids are nearly grown up now and I really love my job. It was the best decision I ever made, good luck girl you can do it
