You really are not thick - if you are so are many others. I belong to my local family history society and at our monthly meeting last week we had a talk on using computers for your research. A questionnaire was handd out so that we can plan future talks. Out of 12 completed questionnaires handed back on 8 ticked the box for more information on Gedcom. I confess I always need my husband to help me! In fact I was suprised at how many people have computers and don't use them to store or find things for their family history. So many seem to be frightened of them. And this is people of all ages. Jane

I think, but i could be wrong, Gedcom is a software or file that enables one to work on their tree off-line. Once you have time, you can then import the info to GR. Probably only need it if you have a large tree to work on. As for where to get it, many of the sites advertise free tree software.
