hy daniel...i dont like the olympics full stop,but i respect anyones right to watch,and enjoy the sports on show. must admit to enjoying our young boxer though! bryan.

But Geoff how would the horses fit into the skates?

I'm afraid I don't like sports where placings are decided on "style" where judges give subjective opinions. It's all somewhat at odds with the Olympic motto "Faster, Higher, Stronger". We all saw how Torville and Dean were conspired against when they made their comeback after a spell as professionals. Having said that, the only skating in the Winter Olympics should be speed skating.

Paul, You make the point that we can't all like the same things, so why knock something you don't like. I personally don't like Boxing but I admire the fitness and training and I will be rooting for our only boxer, who has done really well and got through to the finals. Jan

Hi Paul, I equate beach volleyball with playing netball wearing wellies full of jelly. And the male players are as nothing compared to the gymnasts. Gwynne

ok fair point i appreciate the skill it must take. not my cup of tea but then if we all liked exactly the same things life would be pretty dull! cant believe you dont like the beach volleyball though, the skill, the finesse! i've never seen the men play mind!

Hi Paul, Dressage has been part of the olympics from the beginning of the new olympic age. It requires a lot more skill that a lot of the modern faddy sports and better dress sense than beach volleyball. ;-) When I learned to ride we had to do dressage as part of the lessons and it is an excellent way of learning how to control a horse. next you'll be saying we should appreciate the grace of syncronised swimming! there are some things which just shouldnt be allowed and dancing horses and people doing silly water ballet are two of them! just an opinion mind, please dont take offence!

I am glad Gwynne that someone on here has stuck up for Dressage. Dressage takes years of training between horse and rider to achieve the standard that is shown in the Olympics. The routine to music is only part of the test they have. Only the top 15 get through to that stage. Why to some people on this site think it is funny to belittle things they don't understand or take an interest in. No matter what the sport in the Olympics, competitors take years of training and dedication to achieve the standard they do and all should be appaulded. Jan

Dressage has a longer history than most other olympic sports, it dates back to knights in armour etc. It used to have a practical application like all the ancient sports - javelin, discus etc. I love watching it, Gwynne

Some people like watching the beach volleyball, some like the boxing and others the synchronised swimming. There are even some people who want golf, (of all things), in the Olympics. So why not a dancing horse? There is always the off switch - that's the thing I use when Big Brother, Graham Norton, Coronation Street, Eastenders, Emmerdale and Oz soaps come on. It doesn't leave me much to watch, does it ?
