My problem is slightly different. I have allowed people with a genuine reason(Shared ancestors ) to see my tree, but they still cannot see it. Someone I contacted has assured me I have permission to see his tree but I cannot access it. Also one of my e-mails to him ended up at GR Support. I do wish they would get things sorted out. hi mandy yes thats annoying too, the box being 'ticked' without asking for your permission, it just automatically assumes you want to show your tree. i have to double check before i send the message now that its showing 'unticked'

A couple of days ago, I wanted to send an email to another member but couldn't find her name on any postings. So I found her via the name search and typed in my message. For some reason, I scrolled down and discovered there is box there - ALREADY TICKED! - which says something like 'request permission to view tree'. Of course I unclicked it, because I had no reason at all to want to see her tree. Some of these changes that GR has made seem like backward steps to me. I've also had emails from people asking to view my tree and I'm sure they don't realise they've asked! Mandy :)

Yes, this happened to me too, I just replied asking for the names they were researching and got no reply. The only person I have allowed access to my tree is my daughter. to others I have given information on the name they were asking about.

hi sue ive had this problem too. ive emailed people giving them information as im trying to trace someone and they just answer back can i view your tree! like yourself, i dont want to open up my tree just to 'anyone' as its a delicate situation and its private. up to now ive come to a lot of dead ends and its frustrating as it is, never mind someone looking at your tree without answering your query! ive had a reply from someone who thinks they might be a relative of whom im looking for but havent got back to me since! so now im even more frustrated and darent contact them to ask because it seems like im pestering then!

I keep getting emails through GR from people to ask if they can view my tree, I have not been in touch with these people before, I have emailed these people, to ask what their names are they are researching had no reply from them, as I will not just open my tree up to someone if I don't have a connection, how come they are just asking to view my tree??? A bit puzzled by all of this..........Sue
