We had a cat (died 2 years ago) named MOGGY. Being from Liverpool that's a normal name for a cat! I had to explain to the Canadians what Moggy meant~!

My 19 year old has just started a fish tank. It must be genetic- when I met his father he had a 150 gallon one. Anyway I thought that it would be nice to buy him a couple of "housewarming tank" fish. I chose a pair of Strawberry Tettra's and I named them Pinky and Perky (had to explain). Deb

I've had so many cats, dogs, rabbits etc. I had a hamster years ago called Saddlebags due to his markings. At the moment I have a tabby cat called Slinky and a big black labrador called Nelly. There is a story behind this name, but it will take me ages to type it. Jo.

We re-homed our dog, so he already had a name, but the first dog we had (when I was about 3) was called Ranji. I'm told my Dad named him after an Indian cricketer!

We had been promised a puppy and he duly arrived - a small bundle you could hold in one hand. My husband is a cricket fan and arrived at the name Wisden. Four days later we still didn't seem to be able to call him Wisden! - so he was called Harry - why? - because he was ginger and the friend who gave my husband a lift to work was ginger haired and called Harry (we never told him). This brought everything back - we had him for 14 years and he died a year ago today - still loved and still missed.

My very first cat, when I was 19 and living in a ground floor flat, was called Shelley ( I thought it was a sweet name, but she turned out to be a right madam. Didnt need to change her name, just put Mary in front of it :) She was 12 when she died, kidney failure. She was on a special diet for about 3 yrs. She was a right charactor, and I can picture her now. Lovely memory :)

My eldest cat is named Max - after an advert for Maxwell House coffee, and my younger is called Coco - after Coco Chanel. Previous cats we've had: Dusty Chippy x 2 (1st one found stray by Dad on building site - he was a carpenter) Barney Ozzie x 2 (1st named after Ozzie Ardiles ?? who played for Tottenham at the time) Penny Mum & Dad's were named Rosie & Jim by previous owners - Dad also called Jim, so can get confusing at times lol....... "Jim bought a mouse in last night/Jim jumped in thru the window/Jim's been a little b*gger".......Dad or the cat????
