Further to my 'news' this morning, I now know that 2 Grandmasters, 6 International Masters and 2 FIDE Masters were part of the opposition! Sorry, but after all the terrible news from Russia, it is so nice to report something uplifting. Dilys

Our son, Jon, entered the Illinois State Chess Championship this last week-end and won 4 out of 5 games (played over two days), only losing to a Grandmaster. The overall winner had 4 wins and 1 draw. What a result for Jon. He played on the England Under 21 Squad for nearly six years so is still flying the flag, out there, in the windy city!!
