Hi Everyone! Just got back from my hols in Gran Canaria at 3 this morning. Isn't it cold! lol. Unfortunately my partner Andrew had to come home early after only 5 days due to the death of his brother, but luckily Mum was able to get a flight out and join us for the last week. So what have I missed then? Did you all get shipwrecked on a desert island? Tell me all the juicy gossip! Jeanette x

Thanks Lorr Glad to hear there's been no fighting while I was away. It always puts a damper on things. I'll try and pop into the village when I've got sorted out. Just tried to get my first load of washing out of the washer and the b****y doors stuck. The man can't come to fix it until Thursday. Looks like I'll be spending the next few days in the laundrette. Have you got one in the village I could use? Jeanette x

Welcome back, Jeanette, sounds like you had an eventful time! Which resort did you get too and what did you think of it? I'm green with envy, I love Gran Canaria! Maggy

Welcome home, but sorry to hear you had sad news. Yes there is a launderette in the village, but I think Joy the Vicar's wife is gonna be in big trouble cos Mrs Daisy (Deb C) is in charge there, but she does have a vacancy.......see Staff Wanted thread.... :)

Hiya Maggy We went to Playa Ingles. We were going to hire a car while we were there but Andrew was the one with the driving license so it never happened. We usually like to have a drive round the area we are staying in so I don't really feel as though I've seen much of the place. We did go on a boat trip to see dolphins one day. The boat left from Puerto Rico and that looks like quite a nice place. We didn't see any dolphins but we did see some whales. I also saw the entire contents of my youngest daughters stomach! lol Jeanette x

Jeanette, we've been to Puerto Rico for the last 4 years and can't get enough of the place. Plenty of places to eat and drink, good beaches, plenty of buses to different places, what more do you need? It's very hilly, lots of steps though so you soon walk off all that food and drink! We normally go in February so trying to save the pennies to go next year again. Maggy

What's it like in February Maggie? As Andrew didn't get much of a holiday we might have to go again Jeanette

It's usually really good in Feb, hot in the daytime but a bit cooler at night (nice for sleeping). Wasn't as good this Feb though, we had sandstorms and the week before they had a really bad storm. Hasn't put us off though! Maggy

Hiya again Jeanette, and I'm dead jealous about you going to Gran Canaria, though very sorry to hear the bad news. We went there last year, took the kids on their first holiday abroad (we adopted them in 1999), they loved it there too. Stayed at Eden Apartments in Puerto Rico, and had beautiful weather. I have a colleague, Den, who goes out there twice a year; he goes there again on 1st November. He keeps trying to wind me up by saying how many days there are till he goes there again, the s-d! Hope you go there again, so you have some good associations instead of sad ones. Glenys.
