Russian tragedy.....

Mothers of Beslan Oh, mothers of Beslam, for you our hearts bleed. In one tragic day you were brought to your knees. What started out as a happy bright day. Saw the seeds of your lions brutally taken away. Those dreams for your children, locked in your heart. Like sands in the wind, blown apart. Your children’s, children never to see. Nor to hold and comfort on a nana’s worn knee. While our culture and language may not be the same. No barriers exist in a mother’s pain. Yet, nothing we can say or do. Can ease the pain, help see you through. The sorrow, heartbreak, and tears that we shed. For your children, gunned and mowed down as they fled. Across the miles we send this prayer. May your God enfold you in his care. And help to heal your hearts so sore. For your precious children who are no more. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

British Airways are to send all our toys out free of charge - I am a bit iffy about donating money these days - how much actually gets to the victims, I wonder?

Dilys I'm pleased you have put this thread on as I didn't know there was a collection going on. Those poor children and families it's just so dreadful. I saw the video too this morning and it made my blood run cold. Lorrainex

"Jude (S.Wales) on 07/09/2004 20:03:35 Soft toys can be bought from Charity shops - by doing that l don't mean that to sound like they should'nt have new ones, just that some of us may not be able to afford new ones!! " Even those that can afford it could buy from charity shops becouse that way as well as helping the russian children they would also be helping the charity and they could then possibly send more than 1 item also a lot of charity shops nowerdays sell lots of new items esspecialy cuddly toys Michelle

JUDE I must be honest, the bear I sent was actually my son's (a gift from an ex-girlfriend), I dusted him down (he was SO soft) and gave him a good shake and wrapped him in tissue paper, he must have been so sad when Jon went off to live in Chicago in March, I hope he goes to a good home!!!

Just saw some video footage taken from inside the school during the siege - it made me feel physically sick - all the bombs rigged up and the poor people just having to sit there. You feel so helpless over here - I'm sure loads of people will want to help. Kim x

I picked up the Sun on the Met this morning and saw that they have launched an Appeal, they also gave an address that we can send soft toys, dolls and balls(!) to, for the sick and traumatised children. Have sent a Teddy with a note attached saying 'he needs someone to care for him'. Feel better for doing something.........
