The Corporation of Trinity House was incorporated by royal charter in 1514. It is the general Lighthouse Authority for England, Wales, the Channel Islands and Gibraltar and therefore responsible for providing lighthouses, light vessels, buoys and beacons. Trinity was the lightship service that was used before ,during and after the war ,.Being on board a ship and not on land ,it could be moved to cover temporary obstructions.your rellie was probably posted to one of these ships,as a lightkeeper.fred.ptfg..

My niece just got a birth certificate back and for father's occupation it said sailor in trinity service.Does anyone know what this is? Thanks, Wendy
