Watching the Davis Cup (against Austria) today, all I can say is we need some extra players to play the doubles, crazy flogging Tim and Greg all day, and they have the reverse singles tomorrow.....I am sorry to say we have lost this round

I think there are a number of male/female players coming through the system but will they get the sponsorship they need? Tim didn't have that problem, his family could afford to back him when he was starting out. As the parents of a promising chess player, who couldn't afford to send him to prestigious tournaments where he could earn 'norms' towards being a Master, we know what a struggle it can be, to make it to the top!

We have a future champion from Solihull too. Year 11 and a Junior champion. Walked with Tim Henman at the start of the Olympic flame and plays away at a lot of tournaments. Jacky

I do hope that the papers chase this story - it encourages other youngsters to take up the sport, we do have more than two good players, the newspapers seem to forget..........

Well done Andrew Murray - winner of the U.S. Boys' Final A Scottish lad (who survived Dunblane) - he trains in Barcelona and has a mum who is a tennis coach - he said (on Radio 4) that he was not interested in coming second. I hope Federer has burnt himself out before Andrew gets much older, in that case! Sorry, Roger...........
