Best bet would be to get your rellies to export their trees into GEDCOM format, and then you can use those to import into your own tree, although you'll probably have to use some proprietary package to do that - I use PAF, downloaded free from the familysearch(.)org site

hi colin its always best to do your own tree, even if there is overlapping info, as if they leave the site and you haven't recorded it all that information is lost to you, plus you can double check to see if the info is corrrect, its nice having connections to help you along the way, but as fred said its also fun hunting relevant information. happy hunting sandra

Never mind Colin ,it looks as though you may have to do it the hard way ,but hey ,think of all the fun you are going to have.Fred.ptfg.

two of my distant relatives have build extensive family trees - mostly overlapping their information. I've joined and expected to be able to find myself (easy, I was in both their trees) and add info - i.e. with their permission, to be able to use their trees as the starting point for my tree (so my tree would just be like a home page in a larger tree). Surely I'm not expected to duplicate all the info by importing and exporting?
