Thank you all again everyone. I have brought something called Derbac M, which the chemist recommended. Will use it tonight. Luckily my two sons and my older daughter are clear. Will get my husband to check mine tonight (on my head - Linda and Lisa!! LOL)

you need to put loads of conditioner in their hair ,but firstly treat it with medication like full marks.leave it on for half an hour wash out ,dry hair and condition it and use your nit comb.with full marks you have to put it on,then after a week reapply for it to have any effect.then keep wetcombing until you cannot find any morexxxxxxx(:

Steedie, Karen, Linda and Elaine Thank you all SO much for your help. Like a maniac, I have just smothered Lucie in conditioner - only had henna so the bathroom looks like a blood-bath!! - and combed through. Got about 20 lice! - is that bad?? Will visit the chemist on the way back from school run. Both my sons have cropped hair, so never been a problem and my other daughter had never had them either. I think it's probably the fact that her hair is so dark, thick, curly and long (nearly down to her waist) and as you say, Linda, at the age of two you don't expect them to get them. Thanks again.

i was a hairdresser so have been used to this. smother your daughters hair with conditioner and then use the nit comb to go through the hair, the eggs can't stick to the conditioner so slide off as your combing. make sure you do everyone in your house, you then need to do it again 7 days later as if there are any egg you've missed they could hatch. every now and then i shampoo and condition my girls hair with sampoo that has tea tree in,its supposed to get rid of them as well, karen

I think this has been asked before, but here goes: I found a louse in my two-year old's hair yesterday. She is my fourth child, but this is my first experience on the little blighters. Me and a friend plucked it out and had a good search around for others. Nothing, and no evidence of any eggs (are they called that?). This morning I bought a nit comb and attempted to get it through her hair. Unfortunately she had very curly long dark hair and this proved impossible. I wouldn't be too worried, but there now appear to be a few eggs dotted about. I have pulled out about 10, but I'm worried I might miss one. I've heard that this will hatch and start the process all over again. I don't really want to use any lice products, but I seem to remember that if you wash the hair with a certain shampoo and conditioner every day for a specified time, you can break the cycle. Anyone know the secret? PS I keep looking, but I can't see anymore lice at the moment.
